The Bowen Travel Group is a group of long established coach operator brands with a commitment to the quality of driving staff through training.

Our training division is an integral part of the business and is headed up by Steve Gilkes. Steve is renowned in the industry for delivering high quality interactive training packages and has over thirty years industry experience.

What to expect from us

We provide a quality accredited training course which will help your business and its drivers comply with the Driver CPC requirements.

We can provide a personalised course programme at our Tamworth training suite or at your premises.

Our courses provide a cost effective route to achieving the CPC aims to:

• improve the knowledge and skills of coach drivers before they start driving professionally
• develop their knowledge and skills throughout their working life
• improve road safety through better qualified drivers

Our courses modules have been designed specifically for the coach industry and the courses include:

• Legal requirements
• Customer care
• Driver Walk around checks
• Disability awareness
• Basic life support
• Fire evacuation (PCV)

Achieving CPC requirements

New drivers have to pass an initial Driver CPC qualification before being able to drive professionally. It can be taken at the same time as the vocational driving test.

Once you have passed the initial qualification you will need to complete your periodic training every five years to retain your Driver CPC.

Professional drivers need to complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years to retain their Driver CPC.

Only approved courses taken with approved training centres will count towards periodic training.
